If a certificate is not in English or Hindi, you also need a certified English or Hindi translation. The verifying officer also checks the special eligibility conditions of every choice up to and including the seat you got.
This is where most students get caught. For OBC-NCL and GEN-EWS, the certificate must be either:
Two state-specific rules: caste certificates from Maharashtra need the state's caste validity certificate, and ST certificates from Tamil Nadu must be issued by the Revenue Divisional Officer.

JoSAA doesn't simply cancel you; it changes your category tag and tries again in the next round (clauses 74 and 75):
A seat cancelled for a document problem also costs ₹5,000 of your seat acceptance fee (see JoSAA fees and refunds).
JoSAA gives its own format (Annexure 7), filled by a registered medical practitioner. It records vision, hearing, chest measurement and other basics. Colour-blind candidates and those with vision in one eye are restricted from some programs, so check the restrictions list on the JoSAA website before you fill those choices.
Proof of date of birth, Class 12 marksheet, JEE Main admit card (for NIT+ seats), category and PwD certificates if applicable, a cancelled cheque or passbook image, the JoSAA medical certificate, and OCI/PIO or passport documents if they apply.
For JoSAA 2026 it had to be issued on or after 1 April 2026, or be an online-verifiable government certificate valid until 21 July 2026 (IITs) or 31 August 2026 or the reporting day (NIT+).
If you got an OPEN seat, nothing changes. If you got a reserved seat, that seat is cancelled and you are considered as GEN in later rounds. You also lose ₹5,000 of the seat acceptance fee if the seat is cancelled.
No. It is on the NIT+ document list, not the IIT/IISc list.
